Asking for Abundance

$15,800 is a lot of money. “You know people make that much in a whole year, right?” I did not know that. That number expanded from a reasonable figure to something comically out of reach. Who am I to come up with that kind of money? Who am I to think I am worthy to ask people to give to such an extravagant goal?

Despite my doubts, the Lord has been blessing me with thousands of lessons in grace and faith. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his Glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phillipians 4:19) If he is the master of all the wonders of heaven and earth, if every seed, creature, ocean and the whole world with all its glory belong to him, then he is within his rights to move his resources into my hand. He called me, and he will provide me with the means to go. As if this were not enough, he is able to do exceedingly more than all I could ever ask or imagine. God is nothing if not abundant in his love.

He lavishes affection on me, placing this program on my heart and mercifully giving me a chance to raise support for it. I wait expectantly for him to do the miracle, raise the support, and answer prayers.

This may seem premature or over-confident, but it is actually a part of God’s character. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7-8) Because of his mercy, we are allowed to present our requests to God boldly, understanding that he knows how to give his children good gifts.

And because of our relationship with Christ, we are also allowed to present these requests to other people. So now, as I am beginning this marvelous adventure, I prepare my heart and mind for the great big God Ask. I ask that he meet my support goal. I ask that he instill in me both courage and peace as I step out of my comfort zone to ask others to contribute. I ask to watch as he exceeds my expectations. I ask to watch these abundant gifts of God.

Support Letter

Dear Friends and Family,

I hope this letter finds you well. As I near the half-way point in my senior year of high school, I have explored many opportunities for the future. I am excited to share my good news with you: I have decided to participate in the World Race Gap Year program 2021-2022! God has so mercifully laid out this path for me, and I am striving to walk humbly in it. For a long time, I have dreamed of taking a year between high school and college to experience a “year of service” and to grow my relationship with Christ. I am beyond grateful for his faithfulness for putting this program on my heart.

The World Race is a Christian organization that sends young people into the mission field. Over 9 months (starting in September 2021 and ending in May 2022) I will travel with a group of 30-40 others to Costa Rica, Romania, and Cambodia, serving through construction projects, teaching, outreach, running VBS, and more!

More than anything, I need your prayers! We know that the “prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)

  • Pray for courage and trust as I begin to raise support

  • Pray for the ministries I will serve overseas

  • Pray for the countries I will travel to and the people I will serve

  • Pray for protection and travelling mercy

  • Pray for World Race and my fellow squad members as they raise support and prepare for our journey

I am raising $15,800 by January 2022! This is a big number, but I trust God to provide! Please pray for this process and if you are led, please consider partnering to serve through me in this ministry. This all-inclusive amount carries me to these countries and provides for my food, board, transportation and training. Your financial and spiritual investment in this undertaking is cherished and appreciated.

In Christ,

Ruth Ann Case
